Much of this week went to making the operator’s records match reality, and to converging several competing drafts of one blog post into a single publishable version.

This site: the writing, the build, and this work log itself, kept current and accurate.

during this weekConverged the control-theory post into one version that now waits on a decision to publish, built the genre gate that prevents the same redraft, and cleared a round of mobile and link defects.

Brought the control-theory blog post down to one publishable version

The post was drafted three separate times, as a narrative, an argument, and an informative piece, before anyone had agreed which one it should be. This week filled its held sections, reported a self-grade, and converged the competing drafts into a single version that now waits on a decision to publish.

goal Ship the next most valuable blog post each week, fact-checked
shipped aug 16

Made a post declare its genre before it is written, and fail the build if it does not

The rework on the control-theory post traced back to nobody deciding its genre up front. The site now requires each post to name its genre in a short spec before drafting, and the build refuses a post that has none, so a post can’t reach drafting without an agreed genre.

goal Raise the writing bar on this site against engineers I admire
shipped aug 16

Fixed the two control-theory diagrams the Owner had flagged

The two loop diagrams near the top of the post each had a defect the Owner had caught: one did not say what a box was for, and the other’s missing arrow was too easy to overlook. Both were corrected.

Rewrote the Command project page to match the operator that exists now

The project page described a system that no longer exists. It was rewritten as reference documentation of the current operator and restructured for the phone, with wide tables that scroll rather than overflow. The change is open for review, not yet merged.

goal Keep this site clean, accurate, and current
shipped aug 16

Fixed mobile overflow, a batch of dead cover links, and the reading-status control

The top search page overflowed on a phone, a run of book-cover links pointed nowhere, and the reading status read wrong. All three were fixed and verified against the rendered pages.

goal Keep this site clean, accurate, and current
shipped aug 16

Recorded why a fresh worktree can’t serve a local review build

Serving a draft post on localhost for the Owner to review kept tripping over a setup step that a fresh checkout does not satisfy. The working recipe, and the trap, are now written into the repo so the next review session does not rediscover them.

goal Keep this site clean, accurate, and current
shipped aug 13

Added a five-question test for whether an old finding is still worth publishing

Deciding whether a months-old mined draft still deserves a post had been a guess. A short repeatable test now settles it, and it was applied to a candidate finding whose original conclusion turned out to no longer hold.

goal Hold everything I publish to a hard quality and honesty bar

Pointed the operator-empathy reviewer at finished deliverables, not only plans

The review team had a reviewer that only ever inspected plans. It now also reads finished work, so a deliverable that buries its point in dense prose can be caught before it ships.

goal Maintain and grow an open-source library of Claude skills and hooks
shipped aug 13

Fixed session-end so each handoff gets a unique name

The session close-out skill could overwrite a prior handoff and could miss work that had already merged. It now writes a uniquely named handoff, records what the close-out changed, and no longer loses a paused session to a silent overwrite.

Watches all ~65 of my projects and keeps their Claude Code setups optimized and running cleanly: surfacing CI failures, stale or unpushed work, and config drift, and proposing the fix from one seat.

during this weekMade the operator’s records show who decided what, gave it sensors for stalled sessions and the friction they hit, and aimed it at closing the Owner’s outside commitments on time.

shipped aug 16

Shipped the sensors that make a stalled child session visible

A live child session that lands nothing, a desk session’s own footprint, and a forked session counted twice were all invisible. Each is now measured by its own sensor, and each shipped through the full research, plan-review, implement, test, and review chain, one reviewed pull request at a time.

goal Keep a live status picture across all my projects
shipped aug 16

Gave every published page a name so a later session can find its link

Pages the operator publishes had no shared index, so a session could not look up one it had made earlier or hand a fresh one over. A single named registry closes that, and it exposed and fixed an acceptance test that had been passing without checking the thing it named.

goal Keep a live status picture across all my projects
shipped aug 16

Added a leverage tier so a speculative bet ranks below proven revenue

The operator sorts every goal into leverage tiers, and that ranking decides what surfaces next. A new tier for speculative bets sits just below revenue, so a promising but unproven idea is neither ignored nor allowed to crowd out paying work.

goal Make my operator's actions context-aware instead of one-size-fits-all
shipped aug 16

Kept the operator’s knowledge base current through the nightly digest and weekly lint

The operator’s durable memory was refreshed each night from the day’s sessions and checked once for the week against its own schema. Both passes reconciled claims that had drifted, and repaired the recorded state of two ventures against verified ground truth.

goal Make my operator's behavior reliably evolvable through skills and durable rules
shipped aug 15

Made the operator record friction the moment a session hits it

Ideas and friction raised only in a pull-request body or a passing chat message were never captured, so they could not be acted on later. The operator now logs friction at the moment it happens, and the open recommendations that nobody had been reading are surfaced where the Owner will see them.

goal Build a signal engine that turns my own chat history into targeted improvements
shipped aug 15

Reframed what the operator is for around real-world deadlines only the Owner can meet

A measurement of where the Owner’s time actually goes anchored a reframe of the operator’s purpose: close the dated, real-world acts only the Owner can make. It also split the audience work out of the finance goals and researched a revenue path.

goal Build an always-aware autonomous operator that runs my standing goals with minimal hand-holding
shipped aug 15

Delivered the daily letter, and fixed what kept killing it overnight

The Owner’s daily letter was assembled and shipped through the week, including days that had silently failed to land and had to be recovered. The recurring cause was traced to a launcher that cannot start its own tooling on this machine and to a checkout left parked off the main branch, which had quietly halted several overnight jobs.

goal Keep a live status picture across all my projects
shipped aug 14

Ran the retro that caught the operator repeating its own top finding

The periodic self-improvement pass, grounded in the operator’s own history, found that the evening after the last retro reproduced that retro’s top finding three times over. It ranked the repairs that were missing, including one that brings a stale checkout up to date and one that regenerates a stale status file, so they could be built rather than only flagged.

goal Mine my own chat history for the methods that actually improve results
shipped aug 13

Rebuilt the decision board so every step names who decided it

The board the operator uses to put decisions in front of the Owner is generated now, and every entry in a decision history has to say whether the Owner or the system made the call. It judges itself stale by whether it still matches reality rather than by age, and its composer sends only the ruling just made instead of replaying every past one.

goal Build an always-aware autonomous operator that runs my standing goals with minimal hand-holding
shipped aug 13

Rebuilt the outreach list from measured contact, not inferred overlap

An earlier outreach list had been assembled from inferred career overlap. It was rebuilt from actual recorded contact history instead, and two corrections that had quietly overruled the Owner’s own hand-edit were retracted.

goal Build an always-aware autonomous operator that runs my standing goals with minimal hand-holding
designed, not proven aug 13

Tested a demand avenue against both kill tests before building on it

Rather than build a content engine and hope, the operator tested the weakest link first: whether a demand avenue survives the checks that would kill it. It held up, its measurement wiring is already live, and the record of where each work stream came from was filled in.

goal Build a signal engine that turns my own chat history into targeted improvements

The autonomous remediation loop ran every firing and declined the work it could not own

Through the week the unattended remediation loop kept sensing the same backlog items whose resolution only the Owner can make, such as deleting stale branches or ruling on which repositories belong in scope. Each firing classified the item, recorded a skip rather than manufacturing a fix, and left the backlog for a human seat.

goal Make my operator's actions context-aware instead of one-size-fits-all
in progress aug 13

Ran the nightly operations shifts and the weekly fleet-hygiene sweep

The unattended shifts surveyed the checkout, the backend, and the work tray each night and clocked out with a recorded status. The weekly sweep flagged the worktrees it could not prove safe to remove rather than deleting them blindly, and escalated that uncertainty where a human would see it.

goal Keep a live status picture across all my projects
shipped aug 12

Turned the Owner’s decision board into a live page that collects rulings

After reconciling a day of prior work across logs and git, the operator stood up the decision board as a live page with form inputs, so the Owner can read each card, follow a link to its source notes, and submit rulings that feed back in bulk.

goal Keep a live status picture across all my projects
shipped aug 12

Made the running experiment surface its own review dates in the letter

A month-long experiment had a review cadence that depended on the Owner remembering a handful of scattered dates. The daily letter now carries the next one on its own, so the cadence no longer rests on memory.

Made honestweek usable in a new person’s first few minutes

Extended a personal research pipeline that rebuilds a photograph as a three-dimensional model, and put its own quality checks under adversarial review.
